DIA Scholarship Program Announced

The Dallas Irrigation Association announces its upcoming scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year. The DIA Board of Directors and its Scholarship Committee administer DIA scholarships. Those who have been a member of the Dallas Irrigation Association for at lease one (1) calendar year or a relative of a DIA member who has been a member for at least one (1) year are eligible for these scholarships.

The Dallas Irrigation Association’s designated scholarship committee will review and score all applications. The DIA’s board of directors and designated scholarship committee together will select the scholarship recipients. Applicants will be selected based on membership status and longevity of sponsoring DIA member, career goals or course of study, financial need, previous academic record, as well as on demonstrated communication skills on the required essay. Applications should be submitted no later than May 1, 2019 and scholarship winners will be notified on August 1, 2019.

Two scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year in the amount of $1,000 each are available and will be awarded to those declaring a major course of study in the “green industry”. Green industry major courses of study examples include but are not limited to Landscape Irrigation, Agricultural Irrigation, Landscape Management, and Landscape Irrigation Design. If questionable, final determination on whether a major course of study qualifies for the green industry will be made by the DIA Board of Directors and its designated scholarship committee.
